This week Braden has been doing alot of smiling. He is such a happy baby. He is now 8 lbs 14 1/2 ozs. I have called our GI doctor about Braden's reflux and he is still not eating much by bottle. They will call me on Tuesday to advise. Also, Braden has his scoping (surgery) for the trach/airway to look for swelling and any complications. They will also be looking to see if his airway is maturing. This will be done on Sept. 18th.

Braden Pulmonary visit

Well the pulmonary Dr. would like Braden to stay on his O's till he can catch up on his weight. They did approve taking off for short periods during tummy time. We also called Infectious Disease and confirmed that Braden can come off the Fluconazale. :-) So now we are down to just the trach and reflux.

Braden update

Well not much new is going on this week. Tomorrow we are seeing the Pulmonary Doc. just for a general check up. I'm am going to ask if we can try and start weaning Braden off his O's during the day. I'm not sure they will let us since he has the NG tube. Braden gets bored now so he likes to go for a walk in the back yard or ride around in the Baby Bjorn while I'm in the kitchen. Neither of which I can do very often since we are still using Oxygen all day.

Just to clarify in the new photos Braden does not reach for the keys just yet. He will hold them and shake them. But only when his in the mood. I have been working with him in hopes that he will start to reach for them on his own.

Braden update

Braden's Dr. visit today went very well. The Urologist said that Braden does not have kidney/bladder reflux. Yahoo! So he can get off the Amoxicillan. Also, he said that his kidney's are looking better too. The ultrasound shows one kidney completely clear and the other one seems improved with little debris. So, he thinks that the I.D. will take Braden off the Flucon as well. So no more yeast meds. We have to call on Monday for the final word. Today was very encouraging. It's always nice for Braden to get rid of something or not have another issue added to his list. Overall a very good day.

Braden Update

Braden is doing well although he is still adjusting to his new formula. He has a bad day about every 3rd day. The reflux medications still haven't seemed to work. We are suppose to give them a week or so more before calling back. The next thing they will try is Prilosec in place of the Zantac.

Today we had a family photo shoot with my sister Paula. She put several shots on her website (blog) www.momentsbypaula.blogspot.com. We are very excited to have our first professional family photos. Braden Update

The Doctor visit today with Infectious Disease went well. They want to see what next weeks ultrasound shows before making any changes. The Urology department ordered the ultrasound to test for the bladder to kidney reflux. If the ultrasound shows no change or improvement they might take Braden off the yeast meds. As we have said before this is just a precaution. They pretty much think the yeast is a non issue but to be on the safe side want to continue treatment. The treatment has little to no side effects and is working well so they see no need to rush on taking him off of it. Braden weighed 8 lbs 8 ozs on their scale. We now have a baby scale that weighed Braden at 8 lbs 5 ozs last nite. Which is the same weight from our GI appt.. So Braden really has grown and we are so thrilled.

Braden update

Tomorrow we visit infectious disease again. Today Braden spent all afternoon in the downstairs den. I finally figured out how to set up his equipment without to much work. I have three areas set up with all the great gifts Braden has been given. He has his pack n play in the living room along with a floor gym and toys. He has his portable crib in the den with several of his toys. Then he has his regular bed in his room and his bedside crib in our room. It's so nice to just be able to move Braden and three pieces of equipment and not have to worry with everything else. It's a nice change for Braden too. We think he enjoys being in other areas of the house. I'm sure our friends from the NICU will appreciate it when they are able to come visit or babysit.

Braden is still having reflux. I called today to check with the Doctor and hopefully will hear back from them this week. We still aren't sure about the new formula. Braden seems to be having better days but still has at least one bad episode of gas around his 5:30 feed. His bottom rash is also back and looking pretty horrible. So we are trying to keep that under control.

One more thing...

I forgot to mention yesterday that Braden weighed 8 lbs 5 ozs at the GI office. We never know if the Ped. office scale will show the same so I was reluctant to post. However, he does seem bigger and heavier. We are hoping he is steadily gaining despite his tummy troubles. Today Braden seems to be doing somewhat better. He is still battling bouts of discomfort but they don't last nearly as long.

Braden's GI visit

Well we were pleasantly surprised that the GI doctor listened to everything we had to say and went with our thoughts. He changed Braden's formula. Braden is now on Pregestimil made by Enfamil. It is for babies with fat malabsorption problems. The doctor also put Braden back on Zantac. The doctor also said that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before we will know if the new formula is working for Braden. We are very encouraged and hopeful that this will work and Braden will start eating again.

Braden update

We had a pediatrician visit on Friday. Braden's weight at the Ped. office was also 7lbs 13 ozs. His visit went well and we told Dr. Williams about Braden's tummy issues. She is setting us up with a GI doctor. The prune juice seems to be helping some but yesterday was another really bad gas day. Braden has also shown signs of refluxing again. So Dr. Williams wants the GI doc to advise on additional meds if needed. I have posted some playtime and bath time photos of Braden. He is doing very well. He is very happy and smiling every day. It's so fun to watch him change and grow.
