Holiday weekend

The holiday weekend was sooo nice. Braden loves to see his Daddy all day. Braden has increased on eating by mouth. He usually only eats 7 to 8 ozs a day. Now he has jumped up to 12-13 ozs per day. His activity has increased tremendously. He is pulling up on the furniture really well. He is even trying to figure out how to climb up on the furniture. Although it'll be interesting to see how he can do it with that brace on. I seriously don't doubt he'll find a way. I have the house baby proofed but keep finding new dangers everyday. Braden likes to pull things off the tables. Not good. One good thing is he is short. lol So he can't reach much or at least not yet. One of Braden's good friends bought him an array of yummy puffs and cheesy poofs. Now he has many different flavors to choose from. He got some art supplies and colorbooks. Nana and Pop John are suppose to be coming sometime this week. They are bringing some new toys for Braden. He is ready for new things. He has many toys but has outgrown some of them. Being home 24/7 he is played out. So I am hoping he will enjoy having some new things. His therapist will love working with him on coloring and using his special dot markers. I'll try really hard to get some real video of Braden's pulling up and crawling. Maybe his Daddy will be enough of a distraction he won't notice when I am filming. Also I'll try to get some new pics.

On the Move

Braden has been going and going and going. He travels from the Den, to the kitchen, to the dining room and living room. Basically, the whole first floor of the house. It's amazing how quickly he has changed over just a few weeks. Today during therapy he was learning to crawl up the stairs. He did really well. To both my surprise and his PT Braden can actually pull himself up to standing with his brace on. I have attached a not so great video to show him pulling up onto the footstool. I had to take the video with my phone because he gets to interested in the large video camera. Can't get him to focus on his task.

Therapy

Well today started out with a grumpy Braden. He did not want to work with his PT until I left the room. This is a new thing with him. Certain days he just wants to hang on me and today was one of them. So once I left he did some amazing things. Since Braden can be out of his brace for 2-3 hours a day he is out during therapy. He actually pulled up with a little assistance onto the recliner. Then he stood up, pulled his feet together and then turned as if he was going to take off. He is soooo ready to walk. In his mind that is...but great to know he has the planning of it going on in his head. He also got in the bear stance and started to walk his hands back as if he were going to stand up.(but he didn't and that's ok) Amazing since he wasn't taught how he just does it.

Yesterday we got in the Your Baby Can Read videos. I was skeptical and had no plans on purchasing. However, my Mom was not so she decided to purchase and convinced me they were worth trying. Well they look to be promising. Braden is very interested in the books, flash cards, and DVD's. Each portion takes a month of reviewing at least twice daily. Then on to the next series. It takes an average of 6 months before your baby can read. So I will keep y'all posted on his progress.

As far as Baby goes we are keeping the June 3rd due date. I thought it would change since the ultrasound tech said I was further along than we originally thought. But the Dr.'s office confirmed June 3rd as the official due date.

Busy Busy week....

Braden has had a pretty good week. We were kinda hoping he would get his brace off but that didn't happen. :-( We saw his Ortho Dr. today and he actually widened Braden's brace another notch. I didn't even realize there was another notch. DARN... But Braden is actually still able to crawl and is getting around despite the change. Dr. Mencio did say that Braden can have his brace off for 2-3 hours per day. With no restrictions. So that was good news and this time he won't change his mind. This time he said that 6 months has passed so that's why he was comfortable letting Braden take off the brace. Next visit is in three months. Eventually, Braden will go to naps and nite time wear only. But we still don't know when... Earlier this week we visited Pulmonary. Much to our surprise we have been released from their care. Yahoo!!! No more worrying about Braden's weight. Or should I say no more feeling like someone is breathing down my neck about it. lol We still get to keep our nutritionist and she is happy with Braden's progress. We have adjusted Braden's calories from 720 per day to 820. We can feed Braden by mouth two meals a day plus two snacks and the rest can be tube fed. So glad he can now have more food than Nutrin.
